Week 43 (19 - 25 Oct): Awakened by His Spirit, Moved by His Love
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” — Galatians 5:25
Last Saturday's Home Fellowship was a beautiful reminder that the Holy Spirit is not merely someone we learn about, but someone we can personally encounter and walk with.
As we gathered in worship, we sensed a strong presence of God among us. Rather than rushing into our planned programme, we continued to be in a posture of worship, allowing space for the Holy Spirit to minister to us.
During this time, visions were shared. There was a picture of a flowing river, connected to a waterfall, and another of an angel blowing a trumpet to awaken our inner being. These images reminded us that the Holy Spirit, like stream of living water, continually flows and refreshes us, and of a spiritual awakening — a call to arise and become more sensitive to His presence and leading.
It was a timely experience as we reflected on our recent teachings about the Holy Spirit. We were reminded that the Holy Spirit is not an accessory to our Christian lives. He is God with us and in us — present, personal and powerful. Knowing about Him is important, but cultivating a living relationship with Him is what transforms us.
We then turned our attention to planning our Christmas party on 12 December. For the first time, we will be organising a Christmas celebration at the Home Fellowship level rather than as a church-wide event. Ideas flowed as we discussed games, programs and ways to make the gathering meaningful and welcoming.
But beyond the excitement of planning, we were reminded of the greater purpose of Christmas — sharing the love of Christ with others.
We took time to pray and ask God whom we should invite. As we sought His leading, each of us had at least one name placed upon our hearts. What began as planning an event became an opportunity to respond to God's prompting and reach out to someone who might need to experience His love.
We ended the evening as we began — in worship and prayer, committing our plans and the people on our hearts to the Lord.
Regards
Jacob's Well
