Week 42 (12 - 18 Oct): One Spirit, Many Gifts, One Purpose

During this week's Talent Beacon Fellowship at YMCA, we reflected on 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, where Paul reminds us that there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit who gives them. Though we may have different abilities, roles, and ways of serving, God works through each of us for one common purpose.

One thing that stood out was the distinction between the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit, described in Galatians 5:22-23, reflects how God transforms our character through love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Spiritual gifts, on the other hand, equip us to serve and build others up. Both are important: the Spirit shapes who we are while empowering what we do.

It is easy to compare ourselves with others, especially when their gifts seem more visible than ours. Yet this week's message by Ps Ben reminded us that every gift has a purpose. We are not called to possess every gift or serve in the same way, but faithfully use what God has entrusted to us. As one body in Christ, our differences are not weaknesses but opportunities to complement and encourage one another.

As we continue growing together in fellowship, may we learn to recognize God's work in one another, nurture the fruit of the Spirit, and use our gifts with humility and love.

Reflect questions: Are we using the gifts God has given us to glorify ourselves, or to serve others and build up His Church? But before we answer that, the first ever question that is most important for us to reflect is, do we know all the gifts or one gift that God entrust us to nurture?

Blessings,
