Tonight’s home fellowship felt a little like opening a journal of memories for the year that is soon coming to a close. As we revisited our journey with the Discovery Bible Study (DBS) format, it became clear that much of what God has been doing among us has been gentle and steady, almost hidden in plain sight until we slowed down enough to notice it.
Learning to See Scripture Anew
DBS has helped us read Scripture with fresh eyes. The rhythm of shorter passages and the simplicity of three guiding questions
What can we learn about God?
What can we learn about people?
How can we apply this to our lives?
created a space where Scripture felt less like a chapter to complete and more like a conversation God was inviting us into.
Week after week, familiar passages began to open new angles. Different voices brought out details we had never noticed. The act of drawing scenes, like Jesus sleeping in the storm, helped truths settle not only in our minds but also in our hearts. These simple practices quietly formed a habit of listening, seeing, and pausing long enough for the Word to speak.
Carrying Faith into Everyday Places
As the months passed, we began to notice how the DBS posture was shaping our daily conversations. Faith became something we carried naturally into our workplaces and relationships. Comforting a colleague with a biblical story no longer felt forced because those stories had already shaped our own thinking. Acts of quiet kindness, patience, and care toward people from different backgrounds became opportunities for God’s love to be made visible.
We realised that faith often grows not through dramatic moments but through small and sincere gestures. Connection is rarely built in a single interaction. It forms slowly, through trust and presence. In that sense, DBS has been teaching us not just how to read the Bible but how to let the Bible read us and reshape the way we relate to the people around us.
Growth Through Facilitating and Following
Facilitating DBS also stretched us. Preparing questions, managing time, and trusting the flow of conversation brought moments of uncertainty. Yet the more we leaned on the Holy Spirit instead of a perfect script, the more natural our discussions became. Staying anchored in the passage kept us focused. Allowing space for silence helped us slow down. Over time, we found ourselves listening not just to the text but also to what God was doing in one another.
A Year That Formed Us Softly
As we shared reflections on how the year had shaped us, a gentle pattern emerged. Many of us had navigated changes at work and learned to move with a calmer and steadier spirit. Some experienced long-awaited breakthroughs and found renewed clarity in their walk with God. Others carried physical challenges or seasons of uncertainty, yet discovered that these struggles drew them into deeper trust. There were also testimonies of improving health, restored peace at home, and resilience in walking with loved ones through difficult circumstances.
Through every story, one truth came into focus. Growth rarely announces itself. It forms quietly, like roots deepening beneath the surface.
A Fellowship Formed by Grace
We ended the night grateful for a community that listens, supports, and walks together. This year has stretched us in different ways, yet it has woven us closer as a family of faith. As we step into a new season, we carry the quiet confidence that God has been working among us all along. And He will continue to form us in ways both gentle and profound.
A year of discovery.
A year of grace.
A year where the quiet work of God became visible in our lives.
Love,
RT2.
