Week 37 (8 - 14 Sep): Glory to the King of Kings

Jacob’s Well went on a mission trip from 5–7 Sep. It was a mountaintop experience. If I could summarise it in one sentence, it would be: we confirmed God’s words with the signs that followed. God’s agenda was carried out as we co-laboured with Him. For the first-time mission trippers, it was truly an eye-opener to see how the congregation worshipped God with so much joy and enthusiasm. God’s presence was so tangible that heaven felt like a place on earth. Despite landing past midnight on Monday morning due to a flight delay, and with some team members having diarrhea and gastric discomfort that took a couple of days to recover from, last Saturday’s HF was still lively as the mission fire from the trip kept burning. We continued soaking in the presence of God and had a good time of testimony-sharing. All glory to Him as He works through us, for us, and with us.

Last Saturday’s discussion was on Luke 22:13–48. We learnt the significance of taking Holy Communion, which came very timely, as we had been taking it daily during our mission trip in Surabaya. We also read John 6:50. As we partake of the bread, we are partaking of the living bread that came down from heaven, by which we receive eternal life. As we drink from the cup, which is Jesus’s new covenant in His blood, we remember His covenant of grace and mercy. It is a good reminder that we should not take it as a ritual or out of religiosity, but to do it as often as we can (1 Corinthians 11:25).

On Sunday, we had the Tava Appreciation Event to end the week. We celebrated 11 years of God’s faithfulness in the Door-to-Door ministry as well as Academic Guidance. The movie King of Kings was so apt. Watching it left me in awe of the privilege we have—to be the King’s co-workers in the mission trip and in the various ministries we’ve carried out for 11 years, with many more to come.
